Surface Water Drainage Survey Carried Out
We have instructed Saville Jones Consultants to establish the surface water drainage requirements on the site with a percolation test. This will include digging a pit to British Standard dimensions and measuring the water flow from this pit when filled with water. The site will also be pegged out to define the build.  The agreed action by ESCC Planning Officers will ensure that our planning permission is protected and the renewal fee of £7,500 plus VAT is not required. The building will have assumed to have been commenced.  The planning permission would otherwise have expired in June 2015. We are now looking for new opportunities to raise capital for the build. The project chairman has written to the Secretary of State and the Chairman of the Partnership has written to the Minister to raise the profile of the project and initialize funding resources. Â

Update on progress - October 2014
We are still working hard to raise the funds needed by contacting grant giving bodies. We are also still in discussion with Sport England regarding being allocated a relocatable Olympic pool. A professional fundraiser has now been appointed to work on the project.

Olympic Pool
We have learned that we have been successful in our bid for an Olympic relocatable pool, subject to raising the necessary capital funds for the project. Such a pool would not only possibly reduce our capital needs but also give us a real connection to the Olympic games.

Planning Permission Granted
We are delighted to announce that a major step forward has been taken. East Sussex County Council, on the 20 June 2012, approved our planning application for the new swimming pool and improved fitness facilities. The application was for full planning consent and was prepared by consultant architects Saville Jones of Worthing, who specialize in design of facilities for the leisure industry. Consultees included Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council and Wealden District Council, both of which gave their support. The campaign now turns to the task of raising funds for detailed design and construction.
